Effective October 5, 2026, ACA WSO’s literature discount for eligible Intergroups, Regions, and qualifying purpose-aligned nonprofit and governmental organizations will change from 30% to 15%.

These organizations perform important service throughout the ACA fellowship and often operate with limited resources of their own. WSO recognizes that a change in literature pricing can affect budgets and planning, and wants to provide clear context for why this decision was made.

Why the discount is changing

ACA WSO is currently facing significant financial pressure and is taking a number of steps to bring expenses and revenue into sustainable balance.

WSO already operates with a relatively lean organizational structure and limited staffing and resources. At the same time, it supports work that serves the fellowship worldwide, including literature production and distribution, translations, technology and communications infrastructure, fellowship services, and other essential operations.

Literature also carries substantial costs beyond the physical printing of a book. Production, translation, storage, fulfillment, shipping support, distribution, and other related expenses all contribute to the true cost of making ACA literature available.

The current 30% discount was established more than a decade ago under entirely different operating and financial conditions. As WSO has reviewed current publishing economics and its broader financial position, the Board determined that the existing rate is no longer sustainable.

Rather than eliminating preferential service pricing, WSO will continue offering eligible organizations a 15% discount.

The revised rate also brings ACA WSO’s literature pricing more closely in line with practices across comparable 12-Step organizations.

This adjustment is one of several steps WSO is taking to address its current financial challenges while continuing to support the literature, services, and infrastructure the fellowship relies upon.

Who is affected

The change applies to eligible:

• Intergroups
• Regions
• Qualifying mission-aligned nonprofit organizations
• Qualifying governmental organizations

Existing eligibility rules remain unchanged as part of this transition.

What changes on October 5

Beginning October 5, 2026, eligible organizations will receive a 15% literature discount instead of the current 30%.

Orders placed and paid before October 5, 2026 will receive the existing 30% rate. Orders placed on or after October 5, 2026 will receive the new 15% rate.

No action is required from current discount holders at this time.
